Mains, ATS and generator monitoring

We monitor mains supplies, automatic transfer switches and generators: power availability, source changeovers, operating parameters, alarms and event history.

A shared view of the power supply chain

We monitor the supply chain from the incoming mains through the automatic transfer switch (ATS, referred to as SZR in Poland) to the standby generator. A shared view can show source availability, the source supplying the premises and reported faults. The integration scope depends on the controllers and signals available on site.

Mains availability and electrical parameters

We record mains failure and restoration. With suitable metering, the scope can include phase voltages and currents, frequency, active and reactive power, power factor and energy. Phase loss and agreed threshold breaches can be detected. Detailed power-quality analysis, including harmonics and short voltage dips, requires a suitable analyser and appropriate measurement resolution.

ATS: did the premises transfer to standby power?

Available signals can show source readiness, switch position, automatic or manual mode, transfer to standby and return to the normal supply. Alerts can identify missing transfer confirmation, a controller fault or a system left in manual mode. Transfer duration is assessed using available timestamps; periodic polling is not a substitute for a precision event recorder.

Generators: readiness, operation and servicing

Depending on the controller, we can read readiness and running status, operating hours, start counts, load and alarms. Available signals may include failed start, fuel level, starter-battery voltage, engine temperature and oil pressure. Operating history supports service planning and review of generator test runs. Fuel measurement requires a compatible sensor or controller data; operating hours alone do not measure fuel consumption.

Alerts and an incident report

Notifications are routed to agreed recipients according to event priority, with email and SMS integration options. Event history can connect mains failure, generator start, ATS transfer and supply restoration. Reports can show outage and standby-running durations. Lost communication is labelled as unavailable live data. To support notifications during a power cut, we design backup power for monitoring and communication equipment, for example a UPS and a mobile connection.

Integrating existing equipment

We use documented controller interfaces, such as Modbus RTU/TCP, together with suitable inputs and signalling contacts. Replacement of the entire system is not assumed: we first review equipment models, documentation and options for adding measurement points. Monitoring does not change protection logic or transfer interlocks. Remote starting and control are a separate, agreed implementation scope with access controls and a safe commissioning procedure.

Who is it for and what should you prepare?

The service suits water utilities and pumping stations, factories, cold stores, farms, hotels, server rooms and public buildings. For a quotation, send a supply diagram, ATS and generator controller models, cabinet photographs and the alerts you need. DATPOL selects the measurements, integrates equipment and agrees support arrangements. Data can be linked with an EMS to analyse source availability alongside energy consumption.
